August 2015 Passive Income Report

August 2015 was our second full month living in Bolivia to work as missionaries.  Since 2009 my network of employment websites has blessed our family with the ability to live anywhere in the world while I still keep up a nice income. This month was a bit of a challenge since we had to move to another house. The first house we rented did not have a reliable water heater and after six weeks we decided we better just move. In addition to going to language school to improve my Spanish and working with the ministry, I have worked on my three new projects online.

Writing the eBook was slow this month

The How-to aerial photography business eBook is coming along albeit slowly. With all the other projects and a move it made it difficult to stay in the groove writing. When I started the ebook project I had the idea to take my time and give myself up to a year to complete the book. For the first 3 months of working on the project I am happy with the results.

I was able to finally complete the landing page for the book. It is a simple one page design which works as a lead capture page. I am hoping to build an audience first by giving away a free chapter of the book before launch. Once I have built a list I can then have an audience to update who will hopefully convert into sales.

First iPhone App Launched!

ferry fuel calculator app

On August 13th, 2015 the Ferry Fuel App was released on the iTunes store. I have only made 5 sales in that time but I am not discouraged. The app comes up pretty high in searches on the app store for aviation calculator, fuel calculator, aircraft calculator and a few more. I am confident that over time the app will make a decent income.

And if it doesn’t that is okay too. As I wrote in my Taking an IOS app From Idea to Launch post. I was more interested in the process of taking an app to launch. I learned a lot and can use the experience for launching future apps when the time comes.

Adding One More Passive Site to the Reports

About 5 years ago I bought a little website called CarHaulerDispatch.com from a truck driver who was trying to sell his little site. The site had a strong user base but wasn’t really making any money. I had the site redeveloped on the cheap by my va in India. Since that time the site has averaged about $60 per month on adsense. I have not monetized the site further but I do use it to drive some traffic and new users to my other load board wesbite CarrierCentral.com.

I decided to start showing the passive income from this site because it is truly a passive website. Since I bought the site 5 years ago I rarely do any work on the site and it continues to bring income to the site network. I may add income from a couple other sites as time goes on.

The Web Income Growth Blog Gets Some Exposure

WebIncomeGrowth.com was added to The Ultimate List of Monthly Blogger Income Reports on Cash Flow Diaries. This brought me quite a few new visitors and some email signups. I found the list in the comments section of Pat Flynn’s income report. I emailed the owner of Cash Flow Diaries and he added me to the list. I am way low on the list since I don’t disclose all of my passive income on this blog. If I did I would be in the top 10.

August 2015 Profit/Loss Report

Please note that due to the competitive nature of my employment based websites I am only disclosing profit and loss and growth statements from the new ventures I have started in June 2015. My other websites are subscription based services and have allowed me to work from home since 2009.

August 2015 continued the start-up phase for these projects so I had nearly 100% outflow from these projects. Next month’s expenses should be much lower as I am done with development with the app. I may start doing some advertising for the app but the price point is so low it doesn’t make too much sense to spend more money at this point. I may try the free route and try to get on some app list websites and contact some general aviation magazines about being featured in their publications.
